Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the GuideMate mobile app and this website, operated by Eren Erşahin ("GuideMate", "we"). By using GuideMate you agree to them.

What GuideMate is

GuideMate lets a tour guide broadcast live voice over the local Wi-Fi network to travellers' own phones. Travellers join a room with a 6-letter code and listen; guides create accounts, open rooms, and broadcast. Audio travels peer to peer and is not recorded or stored.

Early access

GuideMate is currently in an early-access phase. Features may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued, and availability is not guaranteed.

Eligibility and accounts

• You must be at least 13 years old to use GuideMate.
• Guide accounts require accurate information. You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for all activity on your account.
• Travellers do not need an account; their use of a tour room is also subject to these terms.

Acceptable use

• You are responsible for everything you broadcast or send in chat. Don't transmit unlawful, hateful, or infringing content.
• Only use Wi-Fi networks you are authorised to use, and only join rooms you were invited to join.
• Don't interfere with other people's tours, attempt to intercept other rooms' traffic, or probe or disrupt the service.
• Don't use GuideMate to record people without the consent required by applicable law. GuideMate itself does not record audio.

Your content

You keep all rights to what you broadcast and write. Because audio and chat travel peer to peer and are not stored, we have no ongoing copy of your content and claim no rights over it.

Our intellectual property

The GuideMate app, name, logo, and this website are our property. These terms don't grant you any rights to them beyond using the app as intended.

Disclaimers

GuideMate is provided "as is". Live audio depends on the local Wi-Fi network, device hardware, and physical surroundings; we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free broadcasting. Note that tour traffic is not encrypted in transit on the local network — see the Privacy Policy for details.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of GuideMate, including interrupted tours, lost business, or data loss. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (currently zero for early-access use).

Termination

You can stop using GuideMate and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, and disputes are subject to the courts of Istanbul, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.

Changes

We may update these terms; the effective date above will change when we do. Continuing to use GuideMate after an update means you accept the new terms.
