Common questions
How do travellers join a tour?
The guide opens a room and gets a 6-letter code. Travellers open GuideMate, tap the nearby tour or type the code, and they're listening. No account or signup is needed to join.
Does it need an internet connection?
The broadcast itself doesn't — voice and chat travel over the local Wi-Fi network, phone to phone, even with no internet at all. Guides need internet briefly to sign in and open a room.
How many travellers can join?
Up to 100 travellers per room.
I can't hear the guide
- Make sure your phone is on the same Wi-Fi networkas the guide's phone.
- Check your media volume and that the room shows as live.
- If the venue Wi-Fi has "client isolation" enabled, devices can't see each other — use the tour's portable Wi-Fi hotspot instead.
- Leave the room and rejoin with the code if audio doesn't start.
How do I delete my account?
Where can I read about data and privacy?
In the Privacy Policy — the short version: live audio is never recorded or stored, and travellers never provide personal details.
